The Nikon 1 J1 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 10-30 mm VR Zoom Lens (Black) is a compact and easily portable digital camera with a 10-30 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR Zoom Lens. The mirrorless design allows the camera to be extra-small and lightweight, while still retaining all of the best qualities of a mirrored model. Featuring a CX-Format High-Speed AF CMOS Sensor and an EXPEED 3 dual image processor, this small device packs some punch. The sensor enables great photos even in low light, while the EXPEED 3 enables superior system performance, high-speed processing, advanced phase detection autofocus and high-speed data transfer rates.

Review :
The new Nikon One system is targeted towards more sophisticated casual photographers, those who have been using Coolpix type digicams and would like to step up to the world of interchangeable lenses while keeping the size of the camera and lens compact. Nikon decided on a small 13.2Ã--8.8mm sensor with a 2.7x crop factor such that the lenses can be quite small as a "normal" lens is about 18mm and their image circle is also quite small.

Review :
The Nikon 1 J1 is the junior member of Nikon's new range of compact system cameras, featuring a smaller and lighter body at a cheaper price than the V1 model. Based around the same "CX" format sensor, the Nikon J1 is still all about pure speed, with fast auto-focusing and up to 60fps continuous shooting. The J1 also offers a built-in pop-up flash, 3 inch LCD screen, full HD video, and a range of innovative modes like Smart Photo Selector and Motion Snapshot. Read our in-depth Nikon 1 J1 review.

DCRP Review: Nikon J1

Review :
Overall, the Nikon 1 J1 is a pretty good interchangeable lens camera, though it's definitely more for those who lean toward the beginner end of the spectrum. I figure that most of those folks will just put it into Scene Auto Selector mode and let the camera do the rest. The camera's fast autofocus system (in good light), Full HD video recording, and minimalist interface should keep Nikon's target audience pretty happy. Enthusiasts are another story. The J1 is light on manual controls, its interface doesn't allow for quick access to camera settings, and the lack of expandability will be frustrating.

Review :
The 1 J1 is an interchangeable-lens digital camera from Nikon that offers a step-down from the companys V1 model. Available in five different color options for users of all types, this model is offered in one and two-lens zoom configurations to suit varying photography needs. Nikons high-speed CMOS image sensor helps to minimize autofocus times for spontaneous shooting and high-risk environments, with 10 frames-per-second speeds and a 73-point AF array further maximizing responsiveness. Frame-by-frame, stop-motion-style photos are made possible via "Motion Snapshot" mode, providing rapid-fire image capture with a single touch-and-hold prompt. The 1 J1 also features full 1080p HD video capture, with simultaneous still photo support for capturing stand-out frames without stopping recording. Using the Smart Photo feature, users can perform an intelligent scan-through of all photographs stored on the camera at a give time, identifying shots that may be blurry, off-center, involve blinking subjects or otherwise unusable. Paired with ... PROS: (1) comes in a number of colors to suit your taste (2) zoom moves in very well, avoids distortion (3) compact design can fit in a purse comfortably (4) AF is fast and accurate, easy to find the subject (5) pictures have excellent clarity and sharpness ... CONS: (1) at this price you can get a full SLR with higher resolution images (2) not compatible with standard SLR lenses, only the specialized lenses built specifically for this camera
Nikon 1 J1 With 10-30mm lens (Black)

Review :
THE GOOD: The Nikon 1 J1 delivers excellent video and low-ISO photo quality, plus some aspects of the camera performance lead its class. THE BAD: The CX lens system drops manual focus rings on the lenses; you cant use flash above 1/60 sec; and theres no option for an EVF. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Nikon 1 J1 is a fine camera, but theres nothing here that screams out "buy it" over similar competitors. Its also on the expensive side for a point-and-shoot upgrader, but has drawbacks for the more advanced user.

Review :
Nikon bided its time before entering the compact system camera market, and when it finally did so last September, wasn't afraid to take a path untrodden. The Nikon J1 adopts a rather smaller sensor than its main rivals, but in doing so also offers a worthwhile savings in weight and size--not only for the camera body, but perhaps more importantly for its lenses. That's not the only attention-grabbing feature, either. An unusual hybrid AF system and a speedy new EXPEED processor make the J1 swift even by SLR standards, and all this in a body that looks less camera than fashion accessory. Inquiring minds must know, though: how does that smaller sensor fare against its system camera rivals, and does it offer enough advantage over enthusiast compacts?
