The Humminbird 788ci HD Combo is a mid-cost fishfinder. This fishfinder has a Selective Fish ID+ feature, which uses advanced sonar processing to interpret sonar returns. When a fish meeting your requirements is detected, a fish icon and its depth are displayed above the return. Three different fish icons represent intensity of the sonar return, and provide an indicator of relative fish size. The instant image update of this fishfinder helps to ensure that the information on the 788ci HD Combos screen is accurate in terms of where your boat is as you move. These features are shared with the lower cost 587ci HD Combo model, which differs from this model only in that it lacks the 788ci HD Combos Ethernet networking ability, which allows you to share views, transducers, GPS positions, and other aspects with other anglers. Features GPS Speed Included Backlight Waterproof Quick Disconnect mount Dimensions: 6.9" x 7.5" ... PROS: (1) preset buttons save a lot of time, make operation easier (2) quick release mounting makes it easy to put it away (3) versatile functionality, can do a lot once you get used to it (4) can easily read the screen in bright light ... CONS: (1) maps shipped with the unit tend to be older, worth going out and getting a newer Navionics card (2) need a manual to cover the full range of the units functionality (3) menus are awkwardly set up, takes longer to find what you need than it should
