The LG BD640 is a mid-cost Blu-ray player. This player is equipped with Dolby TrueHD Digital Plus sound, which offers up to 7.1 channels of high-quality audio. The SimpLink function of the BD640 allows you to connect all your LG devices with HDMI so that you can control them with one remote. This player shows Blu-ray content in 1080p, and upscales standard DVDs to near HD. The Bonus View feature of the BD640 provides picture-in-picture access to Blu-ray Disc special features, so that you can go back and forth between movie scenes and bonus features on the disc. This model differs from the lower cost BD630 model in that it has WiFi capability (with an included adapter) instead of just an Ethernet port, for easier access to NetFlix, Vudu, CinemaNow and YouTube, as well as BD Live (which offers additional online content). This model differs from the higher cost BD650 model ... PROS: (1) DVDs play right away, no long loading times (2) slim enough to fit on a small shelf (3) menus are well laid out and easy to navigate (4) overall fast response to all commands from the remote (5) excellent compatibility with a variety of file formats through USB playback ...
