THE GOOD: The Acer GD235HZ has great gaming performance, good movie playback, and includes the connection option trifecta of DVI, VGA, and HDMI. THE BAD: At default settings, the monitor pushes too much green. Also, it lacks ergonomic options and its price is a bit too high if not planning to view any 3D content. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Acer GD235HZ is a high-performing 3D monitor thats great for gamers looking for a low-price 3D-capable offering.

The Acer GD235HZ is a 23” high-definition display monitor featuring a full 1080p resolution and specially designed for 3D aficionados. When combined with Nvidia’s 3D Vision active shutter glasses, the GD235HZ functions as a full 3D display. This means users can fully immerse themselves in their 3D games and movies. Included also is an HDMI port (with HDCP compliance) for using the screen as a television. The one area in which the GD235HZ is severely lacking is audio, as it includes no speakers whatsoever. Additional features include support for both a Kensington Lock Slot and VESA wall mounting. Additional Information To utilize the GD235HZ’s 3D function, users must purchase the Nvidia 3D Vision active shutter glasses and a compatible Nvidia graphics card. CONS: (1) you need to buy Nvidias $199 3D vision kit + Nvidia card (not compatible with ATI) for 3D (2) high price for a 2" TN based display (3) true cost is ~$600 (w/ compatible 3D glasses) (4) designed for gaming, poor for regular everyday use due to high cost for a regular TN display - poor viewing angles and colour depth
