THE GOOD: The Sony Handycam HDR-PJ10s built-in projector and stereo speakers are very convenient for sharing home movies. Plus, the HD camcorder has the same wide-angle lens, built-in USB cable, and good automated performance as its projector-free siblings. THE BAD: If you dont plan to use the projector, the rest of the camcorders performance and feature set are a bit underpowered for the money. THE BOTTOM LINE: Youre paying a couple hundred extra for the projector in the otherwise frills-free Sony Handycam HDR-PJ10 over its identical twin, the CX160, but if you regularly show off your vacation videos in the homes of friends and family then its worth it.

The Sony Handycam HDR-PJ10 is handheld digital camera released in early 2011 alongside the HDR-PJ30V and HDR-PJ50V. The signature feature of the Handycam HDR-PJ10 and its peers is that they all host a flip-out LCD panel with a built-in projector that can display video content at up to 60” when projected from 18ft away onto flat surfaces like walls and ceilings. There are also integrated speakers and built-in amplifiers, making this an optimal choice for users wanting to display their content without having to rely on an HDTV. The weakest in the group, this camcorder hosts only 16GB of memory. Other features include a 30x optical zoom lens, a 350x digital zoom, and iAuto for auto scene selections based on the environmental conditions.
